Position Summary
Japan Tobacco International (JTI) is seeking a qualified Tobacco Processing Operator to manage tobacco processing activities through machinery operation. The role ensures product quality, equipment maintenance, and strict adherence to organizational safety and housekeeping standards. The successful candidate will operate primary production lines including the Lamina Line, CRES Line, Blending Line, CFT Bin filling station, Maker CFT feeders, and C48 filling station, alongside operating forklifts within limited shopfloor spaces.
Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Logistics: Operate the Lamina in-feed line, CFT bin filling station, and CFT maker feeders utilizing a forklift while ensuring full compliance with standard operating procedures and supervisory instructions.

Line Inspection & Cleaning: Inspect and clean all tobacco processing lines prior to operation. Perform thorough line cleaning when transitioning from dark-fired blends to light-grade blends, as well as mandatory end-of-day deep cleaning per operational guidelines.

Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and ensuring proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn by self and crew members during operational and cleaning tasks.

Housekeeping & Shopfloor Maintenance: Implement continuous housekeeping throughout production shifts to maintain an organized, clean work area and properly arranged tools.

Team Communication: Communicate effectively with the Tobacco Processing Lead and team members to ensure smooth operational flow between upstream and downstream work centers.
Requirements & Qualifications

Education: University Degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of practical experience working within a tobacco processing environment.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating Lamina Conditioning/casing and Stem conditioning work centers, along with demonstrated experience operating forklifts in tight shopfloor environments.

Computer Skills: Basic computer literacy.

Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Swahili.
