Systems Administrator Officer II

Nature and Scope

The Systems Administrator Officer II will manage and implement TIB’s infrastructure, ensuring the effective operation of the bank’s network, data centers, physical and virtual hardware and software, servers, storage, and backup appliances. The role involves working in a team to identify and implement solutions, advise on ICT security issues, and plan and coordinate network and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and ensure the effectiveness of servers, including Active Directory (AD), email, printers, and their associated operating systems and software for both on-site and off-site data centers.
• Maintain an inventory of equipment and parts, as well as documentation of configurations, standards, and vendor activities.
• Perform systems administration activities, such as taking system backups and ensuring backup tapes are secure and available for computing resources or application servers.
• Secure the network infrastructure to ensure the availability, confidentiality, and integrity of data at rest or in transit.
• Administer servers, client computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, IP phones, iPads, smartphones, software deployment, security updates, and patches.
• Ensure all new implementations meet bank requirements and comply with policies.
• Prepare and maintain documentation of network and cabling layouts.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Educational Qualifications

• Holder of a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.

Working Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

• Ability to organize and document, with skills in designing, implementing, and configuring systems.
• Ability to communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing, establishing and maintaining cooperation, understanding, trust, and credibility.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively.
• Knowledge and experience in modern practices for ICT infrastructure architecture and operations in medium to large financial institutions, providing guidance on quality improvements and strategic changes.
• Experience with Windows 2019 and above, Active Directory (AD) servers (configuration and management, server replication, domain and subdomain creation, etc.).
• Experience in networking systems, server and storage administration, and network security.
• Advanced skills in router, switch, and firewall configurations.
• Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network
• Professional (CCNP), along with additional relevant ICT certifications.
• Excellent written and communication skills in English and Swahili.
