Job Purpose
The Senior Operations Manager leads Bolt’s operational strategy in Tanzania, overseeing Driver Engagement, Marketplace Efficiency, Rider Growth, and Platform Safety. This role takes full ownership of mission-critical KPIs—from supply retention and unit economics to regulatory compliance and city-level execution—leading the local operations team and aligning closely with global HQ stakeholders to build a safe, compliant, and sustainable urban mobility ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities

Driver Engagement & Supply Retention: Formulate and execute driver retention strategies to maintain active supply, targeting over 90% Month-over-Month (MoM) retention. Oversee onboarding, activation, and performance programs to boost driver loyalty and minimize churn.

Marketplace Performance & Unit Economics: Maximize completed rides while ensuring profitability alignment with Payback and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) targets. Continuously monitor marketplace metrics to optimize efficiency.

Supply–Demand Optimization: Balance rider demand and driver supply to minimize trip cancellations, optimize estimated time of arrival (ETA), and improve general marketplace reliability.

Rider Growth & Lifecycle Management: Drive active rider growth, increase rides per user, and boost Customer Lifetime Value (LTV) by collaborating with Marketing on demand-generation campaigns and category expansion.

City-Level Execution: Direct city-specific performance strategies, identifying operational bottlenecks and implementing cross-functional solutions across various regions in Tanzania.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management: Lead safety and compliance initiatives in partnership with local authorities, including LATRA, law enforcement, and tax agencies. Preserve trip authenticity, mitigate operational risks, and maintain regulatory compliance.
Candidate Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: 9+ years of progressive operational leadership experience within mobility, ride-hailing, tech marketplaces, or logistics platforms.

Leadership Track Record: Proven experience leading large-scale operational teams and managing complex, multi-variable marketplace systems.

Analytical Capability: Advanced, expert-level data analysis skills using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

Regulatory & Communication Skills: Strong stakeholder management skills; fluent in English (Swahili proficiency is an added advantage).
