Sustainability Specialist – Ports & Terminals

DP World 

Job Function

To initiate, lead and implement DP World sustainability and propose advanced ideas, activities and programs. Develops a strategic storyline to communicate DP World’s efforts and vision on sustainability and program information. The role ensures alignment with global ESG standards, SDG and regulatory compliance.

DPW needs to supervise and make sure that all administrative activities are handled safely as standard and meet the target and operations run smoothly.

Key Performance Areas:

Sustainability & ESG Implementation

Design and implement sustainability initiatives aligned with corporate ESG goals.
Support development and implementation of environmental projects (e.g., waste reduction, energy efficiency, biodiversity restoration like mangrove planting).
Collaborate with operations and HSE teams to integrate sustainable practices into daily workflows.
Lead awareness campaigns and training on sustainability for staff and contractors.
Monitors the feedback and analysis on sustainability efforts, reports insights and suggests solutions to issues or opportunities.

Strategic Communication

Develop and execute internal and external communication strategies tailored to port operations.
Draft press releases, newsletters, speeches, social media content, and marketing materials.
Craft compelling narratives for stakeholder reports, newsletters, and executive messaging.
Support leadership in delivering consistent and impactful communication across all levels.
Maintain alignment with regional and global DP World communication standards.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

Plan and coordinate community engagement and CSR initiatives that align with local needs and global commitments.
Build and maintain relationships with NGOs, schools & colleges, local authorities, community leaders, and industry partners.
Coordinate CSR activities and community outreach programs.
Facilitate stakeholder consultations and feedback mechanisms for sustainability projects.

Compliance & Reporting

Ensure adherence to national and international sustainability regulations and standards.
Prepare periodic ESG and communication reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Support audits and assessments related to sustainability.
Periodic reports to Group on Sustainability expenditure and budgeting.

Employee Engagement

Lead employee engagement campaigns that promote sustainability, volunteering, and positive workplace culture.
Coordinate internal awareness events (e.g., Earth Day, World Oceans Day, Health & Safety Week).

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Environmental Science, Public Relations, or related field. Master’s degree is an advantage.

Experience and Skills Required:

Minimum 5 years in corporate communication and/or sustainability roles, preferably in logistics, maritime, or industrial sectors
Strategic thinking

Good interpersonal and communications skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
