Position: Sub-Editor – Sports Desk

Place: Dar es Salaam

JOB PURPOSE

Duties and Responsibilities

– Checking and correcting editorial copy allocated by Sports Editor for facts, accuracy, taste, compliance with TGL house style, language use, clarity, details, objectivity, spelling.
Rewriting the copy as necessary for simplicity, clarity and compliance with the newspaper’s house style.
Editing photos/illustrations selected by Sports Editor to fit allocated space and writing/rewriting captions taking care not to give obvious details.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in journalism
At least four years’ experience in journalism, in part as sub editor
Mastery of English and Kiswahili
Knowledge of any other language will be an added advantage
