JOB PURPOSE

To provide legal representation and advisory services to clients through litigation, legal drafting, and dispute resolution, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and maintaining high standards of legal professionalism and ethics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct litigation in civil and criminal matters before courts and quasi-judicial bodies.
  • Prepare, draft, and review pleadings, legal opinions, contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including mentions, hearings, and trials.
  • Provide legal advisory services in corporate, commercial, labour, and financial matters.
  • Participate in negotiations, mediations, and arbitration proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated with developments in relevant laws.
  • Ensure proper case management, including filing, documentation, and follow-ups.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide timely legal solutions.
  • Uphold confidentiality, integrity, and professional conduct in all matters.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be a Practising Advocate admitted to the High Court and subordinate courts.
  • Holder of an LL.B Degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (or equivalent).
  • Valid practising certificate/license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ post-admission experience in active legal practice.
  • Proven experience in litigation (civil and criminal).
  • Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, labour, and financial laws.
  • Practical experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is essential.
  • Experience in handling complex legal matters or transactions is an added advantage.
