About the Role

The Informatics Officer supports EGPAF-supported health facilities in Kagera and Tabora by overseeing health data systems, electronic medical records (EMR/CTC2), mHealth applications, and data infrastructure. The role focuses on improving data completeness, automating analytics, and maintaining data visualization tools to foster a data-driven decision-making culture across programs.

Technically supervised by the Senior Informatics Manager, the officer handles daily operations under the guidance of the Senior Strategic Results Manager and collaborates directly with Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) teams.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• EMR & Health Data Systems:

  • Support the rollout, maintenance, and optimization of EMR systems (CTC2) across EGPAF-supported facilities.

  • Establish and execute data quality assurance strategies to improve the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of facility records.

  • Oversee data infrastructure (“Info structure”) including EMR hardware/software setups and external site components.

• Application Development & mHealth:

  • Implement and maintain mHealth platforms for real-time data collection, transmission, and rapid report distribution.

  • Perform planned and ad-hoc application development, customizing open platforms to meet project needs.

• Data Analytics & Visualization:

  • Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reporting systems using Power BI and Tableau.

  • Perform on-demand data management, query building, and validation using SQL, DAX, Python, or PHP.

  • Lead data processing for quarterly report compilations and facilitate data analysis sessions.

• Capacity Building & Quality Improvement:

  • Train and mentor EGPAF staff and facility health workers on standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data handling and documentation.

  • Conduct routine data validation exercises at aggregate and facility levels to maintain high data quality standards.

  • Promote a program-wide culture of using data to track inputs, outputs, and clinical outcomes.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Information Technology, Data Science, or a closely related field. Informatics Officer Job Vacancy at EGPAF

• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in database administration, data engineering, application development, or health informatics.

• Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Database & Cloud: Strong proficiency in SQL Server, relational database design, data warehousing, and Microsoft Azure.

  • Data Visualization: Hands-on expertise with Power BI and Tableau.
