Job Summary

Computer Centre Tanzania is looking for a skilled Software Engineer with strong Linux expertise to design, develop, deploy, and maintain software applications and supporting infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Software Development: Design, write, test, and maintain clean, well-documented code.

• Linux Systems: Administer, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize applications for Linux environments (Ubuntu, Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux).

• Automation: Develop shell/Bash scripts and automation tools to increase operational efficiency.

• Deployment & CI/CD: Manage code using Git, participate in CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with DevOps/QA/Infrastructure teams.

• Maintenance & Security: Implement security best practices, monitor application performance, and resolve production issues.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field.

• Experience: 3+ years of professional software development experience.

• Core Skills:

  • Strong Linux OS administration and Bash/shell scripting.

  • Proficiency in at least one: Python, Java, C++, Go, or C#.

  • Solid understanding of SDLC, Git, REST APIs, and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).

• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred / Added Advantage:

• Containers & Cloud: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• DevOps & Config Tools: Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions.

• Networking & Monitoring: TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, Firewalls, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack.

• Certifications: RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC, or CompTIA Linux+.
