Position Description
Barrick seeks to employ a Security Supervisor based at Bulyanhulu Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Security Coordinator, and the role holder will be accountable for implementing general security activities and assisting with the supervision of contractors’ security personnel and local guards in compliance with the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights and Barrick / BGML standards and procedures. This position will be responsible for both Process Plant security and general security operations.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Coordination of resources/logistics so that service provision is delivered in a timely, effective, efficient, and professional manner
- Vigilance to the Departmental Performance Matrix used to assess operational effectiveness. Making all possible endeavors to ensure that on a Shift-by-Shift basis, all activities align with successful Matrix trending.
- Security Prevention Awareness to be proactively maintained.
- Reporting all deficiencies promptly to minimize the opportunity for loss of company property, etc.
- Accurate, detailed, and Timely delivery of required administrative reports (Oral, Written, Incident, Statements, Safety, etc.) to ensure each party is in an informed state.
- Takes initiative, self-directed in person, working as a team or as an individual, ensuring that parade checks and timely deployment
- Timely assessment for team members as per Barrick policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all breaches in Search Policy are properly investigated and escalated to Superintendent/ Coordinator accordingly.
- Ensure that any functional breakdown in access system is reported to Systems Technicians for repairs immediately
- Daily physical inspection of all card readers at access/egress points in and around all gates and turnstile areas
- Weekly fence line inspections conducted and handed in on time
- Ensuring that proper work procedures within Operations Section is maintained and updated according to changes within the working environment and reviewed and updated on a quarterly basis
- All employees under your command to be trained and brought to standard with regards to all Security Policies and Procedures
- Holding employees accountable through practical desires and outputs. Makes realistic, practical, value-based decisions.
- Deals with situations in an open, objective, and flexible manner. Able to adapt and change to changes within the department
- Able to work under pressure
- Plans ahead to ensure that resources are available for daily and future actions
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND ATTRIBUTES:
Qualifications
- Ordinary secondary education
- A sound working knowledge of security best practices and legislation affecting the security role.
- Valid Driving License
Knowledge and Skills & Experience
- Proven and developed leadership skills and ability to prepare and implement tactically sound orders to combat adverse incidents
- High level of interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Effective problem-solving methods.
- Knowledge of Tanzanian customs and legal processes.
- Excellent communication in English, both writing and verbal. Hazard identification and Risk assessment
- Mine health &Safety Act awareness
- 2 years of experience in a similar field/role
- Working experience in complex mining will be an advantage
- Extensive security operations background
