Role Purpose
The Agri-Finance Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing digital lending products tailored to the agricultural sector. The role involves collaborating with financial institutions, fintechs, and other key stakeholders to design innovative loan products that enhance financial inclusion for farmers, Agri-SMEs, and value chain players across Tanzania.
Key Responsibilities

Product Rollout & Go-To-Market (GTM): Lead end-to-end go-to-market for pilots and scale rollouts; develop execution plans, train and mobilize field staff/agents, design incentive structures, track key milestones, and resolve on-ground operational blockers.

Portfolio & Repayment Ownership: Take full ownership of loan portfolio performance; define collection processes, early-warning triggers, and restructure rules; lead field recovery efforts to achieve non-performing loan (NPL) and Portfolio at Risk (PAR) targets.

Field Operations & Farmer Onboarding: Oversee farmer-group onboarding, ensure KYC/KYB compliance, manage customer, merchant, and agent enablement, handle KYC verifications, and supervise rural channel operations.

Stakeholder & Partnership Management: Build and nurture strategic relationships with input suppliers, agribusinesses, agricultural cooperatives, financial institutions, NGOs, and local government bodies; negotiate MoUs and co-financing structures.

Project Governance & M&E: Manage pilot governance according to timelines and budget tracking; produce operational dashboards and submit fortnightly/monthly reports to internal and external stakeholders.
Candidate Qualifications & Competencies
Education & Work Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (a Master’s Degree is an added advantage).

Minimum of 3 years of experience in digital lending, agricultural finance, fintech, or mobile financial services (MFS).
Core Competencies & Technical Skills:

Financial & Credit Expertise: Deep understanding of digital lending, savings, micro-insurance, and agricultural financing models.

Agri Value-Chain Insight: Strong knowledge of Tanzanian agricultural value chains, rural banking, and financial inclusion strategies.

Ecosystem Experience: Proven experience working with digital platforms, credit risk models, and mobile money ecosystems (M-Pesa).

Partnership Building: Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage high-level partnerships with banks, Agri-Tech firms, and cooperatives.

Analytical & Project Management: Expertise in data analytics, credit assessment, project governance, and program management.
