Terms of Reference For Graphic Design Services at SAfA Tanzania
Job Overview
SAfA Tanzania is a youth-focused project aimed at empowering over 50,000 Tanzanian youth aged 15-30 years in the regions of Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Mbeya, and Songwe, by enhancing their livelihood prospects. The project collaborates with three implementing partners: Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung (DSW) Tanzania, Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS) Tanzania, and Kuhne Foundation (KF) Tanzania. These three implementers leverage their expertise to foster skills development for remunerative employment, enhance agricultural efficiencies, optimize health supply chains, improve Reproductive Health Education (RHE) with strengthened gender responsiveness, and increase the utilization of youth-friendly health services. The project emphasizes sustainable development and community engagement to create lasting social impact and economic growth for Tanzanian youth.
OBJECTIVES
The objective of this TOR is to engage a professional graphic designer to create visual content that effectively communicates the project’s activities, achievements, and impact in the project implementation areas.
SCOPE OF WORK
- Collaborate with the SAfA Tanzania Communication Manager and Project Coordinating Unit (PCU) to develop graphic design content that adheres to the project’s branding guidelines and ethical standards.
- Design high-quality visual materials, including but not limited to, brochures, posters, infographics, social media graphics, and reports, that highlight the impact of the project interventions of each implementing partner.
- Ensure all graphic design deliverables are provided in both high-resolution and web-friendly formats within the agreed-upon timeline.
- Adapt designs based on feedback from the Communication Manager and PCU to meet project needs and objectives.
DELIVERABLES
Delivery of all graphic design files in both high-resolution and web-friendly formats within a month after engagement. These will include:
- PowerPoint template
- Pullup banners and outdoor feather/flag banners
- White space project logos
- Social media template
- Tri-fold and bi-fold brochure designs for project information and promotional materials.
- Single-page flyers for events, workshops, and community outreach.
- Newsletter templates for email and print newsletters.
- Branded press release templates for official announcements and media outreach.
- Invitation cards for project events, workshops, and meetings.
- Participation and achievement certificates for project beneficiaries and partners.

TIMELINE
The graphic design services will be required as needed and on an ongoing basis, throughout the duration of the SAfA Tanzania project. The exact schedule and frequency of design tasks will be determined in consultation with the Communication Manager.
REPORTING AND COMMUNICATION
The graphic designer will report directly to the Communication Manager and collaborate closely with the Project Coordinating Unit (PCU) to ensure alignment with project objectives and priorities. Regular communication and updates on progress and deliverables will be expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in professional graphic design, with a portfolio demonstrating proficiency in creating various types of visual content.
- Familiarity with community development projects, particularly in the fields of youth empowerment, agriculture, health, and education, is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in multicultural settings.
- Ability to deliver quality products on time.
- Proficiency in graphic design software and tools.
