Role Overview & Key Responsibilities

The Team Lead, Agriculture drives UBA Tanzania’s corporate and commercial banking growth across the agribusiness sector. The role leads a team of relationship managers to acquire high-value agricultural corporate clients, structure viable credit facilities, expand deposit liabilities, and manage sector-specific credit risk.

• Business Development & Sector Growth: Drive client acquisition across agricultural corporates and commercial enterprises; meet and exceed sector targets for PBT/revenue, low-cost deposits, fee income, risk assets, and foreign exchange. Team Lead, Agriculture Job Vacancy at UBA Bank Tanzania

• Credit Structuring & Risk Management: Review, screen, and prepare credit memoranda for agricultural facilities; monitor approved risk triggers, conditions, and covenants; initiate prompt recovery strategies on deteriorating or watch-listed accounts.

• Relationship Management & Site Inspections: Conduct regular client visits to inspect agricultural operations, equipment, processing plants, and collateral; reactivate dormant relationships and enhance client retention.

• Product Development & Market Analysis: Analyze agribusiness market trends and regulatory shifts to design tailored banking products and structured trade/commodity finance solutions.

• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Direct, supervise, and develop Relationship Managers and Officers, ensuring proper guidance and resources to achieve individual and team commercial targets.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: First degree in a Business-related field or Social Sciences from a recognized university. (Higher degrees, MBA, or relevant professional banking certifications are an added advantage).

• Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive banking experience, with direct exposure to Corporate/Commercial Banking credit, relationship management, and the Agriculture sector.

• Core Competencies: Expert knowledge of agricultural value chain financing, commercial banking products, credit appraisal, portfolio monitoring, and structured trade finance.

• Leadership & Analytical Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional banking teams, work under pressure, negotiate high-value deals, and perform complex financial/credit analysis.
