Position: Tax Accountant Officer

Reports to: Senior Tax & Compliance Advisor.

Roster: 5 :2 (Working Days)

Duty Station:  Dar Es Salaam.

The Tax Accountant Officer will be responsible for managing tax compliance and reporting activities for the Group’s Tanzanian operations, including corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and transfer pricing obligations. The role supports tax advisory functions, month-end reporting activities, tax audits, and finance-related projects while assisting the Senior Tax and Compliance Advisor and Head of Tax in ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

Ensure timely and accurate filing of corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and transfer pricing obligations.
Prepare tax provisions, reconciliations, and IAS 12 tax reporting requirements.
Support tax audits, dispute resolution processes, and government relations matters.
Manage VAT refund claims and maintain audit-ready tax records and documentation.
Identify and mitigate tax risks through effective monitoring and internal controls.
Support process improvement initiatives and tax compliance monitoring activities.
Collaborate with finance, legal, and operational teams on regulatory and statutory reporting requirements.
Provide tax advisory support across business functions and liaise with external advisors, auditors, and consultants.
Promote compliance with Health, Safety, Environment, and Community requirements.

Skills, Knowledge, and Attributes

Strong knowledge of tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax reporting.
Excellent analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
Knowledge of tax audits, dispute resolution, VAT refunds, and tax risk management.
Experience working in multinational or listed companies will be an advantage.

Qualification/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in taxation, preferably within a Big Four audit firm, mining, extractive, or large corporate environment.
CPA(T), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification will be an added advantage.
