Senior Mine Accountant /Management Accountant Job at Sotta Mining

Position: Senior Mine Accountant / Management Accountant

Reports to: Commercial Manager

The Senior Mine Accountant / Management Accountant is a key site-based finance role responsible for ensuring financial integrity, cost control, and timely financial reporting during the construction and early operational phases of the Nyanzaga Project. The role supports strong financial discipline across all departments and acts as the primary link between site operations and the finance function. The incumbent will also support the Commercial Manager and, where required, act as the lead finance representative during their absence.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Oversee financial transactions within the ERP system (Pronto or equivalent), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and correct cost allocation.
• Manage month-end processes including accruals, prepayments, and cost reallocations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, cost reports, and variance analyses.
• Monitor construction and operational expenditure to ensure cost control and financial discipline.
• Conduct cost analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Act as a key finance liaison between site teams and corporate finance.
• Engage with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Projects teams to strengthen financial controls.

Qualification/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• CPA (T) or equivalent professional certification is mandatory.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in management or project accounting.
• Experience in mining, construction, or heavy industry is strongly preferred.
