When Sassa grants will be paid out in December 2022

Use WhatsApp on your cell phone to check your SASSA balance.
You can use WhatsApp on your cell phone to check the status of your SASSA:

Send the word “Sassa” to 082 046 8553, which is the number for the Sassa WhatsApp app.
Just send back the word “Status.”
If you have a reference number, say “Yes.”

How to Find Out Your Sassa Balance

On the official SASSA website, at https://www.sassa.gov.za, grant applicants can also check the status of their SRD grant applications.

Applicants can also use the online dashboard link at https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status to see where their SRD grant application is at the moment.

What if my request for a grant payment was turned down?

When they check their status, some people find that their grant payment is being turned down with the message “Registered at SARS for PAYE” or “Receiving a source of income.” It is important to note that, according to SASSA rules, the applicant must be unemployed in order to get the grant (and not have any source of income). Also, they don’t get any grants from UIF or any other sources.

But starting in July 2021, this won’t apply to people who get a child support grant. SASSA says that when an application is turned down, it’s usually because the applicant has a monthly income of more than R595, minus any child grant.

Update on the SASSA R350 grant application

Lindiwe Zulu, South Africa’s Minister of Social Development, said in a statement that nine million South Africans have applied for the SASSA Covid SRD R350 grant. There have been reports of long lines at the pay points where the R350 is being paid (due to the millions of applications) The minister suggests that people give their bank account information if they can, so that the R350 can be paid directly into their accounts. Cash payments can be made faster if you give your bank information as a payment method. Most people who got grants have used the money to buy food.

From September 22, you can also get your R350 social relief grant at Pick n Pay and Boxer stores in South Africa, in addition to the Post Office. You must have gotten the SMS message that your grant is ready. Make sure to bring your cell phone and a photo ID with you to the store when you go to pick up. This means that people who don’t have bank accounts will be able to get cash. Bank Mobile Money Transfers are another way to get paid.

Remember that you shouldn’t go there until you’ve gotten an SMS telling you that your grant is ready.
