Job Purpose

The Drill Product Master serves as the primary technical contact person bridging the Tanzania Sales Area and the Sandvik Factory/Equipment Product Line. The role takes technical and application ownership of Sandvik underground drilling equipment, leading product launches, second-line troubleshooting, warranty investigations, operational readiness, and technical training.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Technical Leadership & Product Ownership:

    • Serve as the division technical expert for Sandvik underground drilling solutions across the Tanzania territory.

    • Lead technical ownership for new product market releases, commissioning, product launches, and the retirement of legacy equipment.

    • Assist in New Product Development (NPD) processes and operational readiness for major mining projects.

  • Advanced Maintenance, Diagnostics & Support:

    • Perform second-line troubleshooting, root-cause analyses, and system adjustments on client equipment.

    • Provide guidance on Machine Life Operating Cost (MLOC) and support operating cost proposals for sales teams.

    • Proactively investigate warranty claims and recommend corrective measures to prevent recurring issues.

  • EHS, Compliance & Quality Assurance:

    • Execute all duties in accordance with Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ), and Community Relations policies.

    • Identify hazards, address operational anomalies, and promote zero-harm safety practices on site.

  • Training & Knowledge Transfer:

    • Act as a technical coach, mentor, and trainer, facilitating knowledge transfer between Sandvik factories and local site teams.

    • Collaborate with the Parts & Services division to design and execute technical training programs for clients and internal staff.

Candidate Qualifications & Experience

Technical Qualifications:

  • Trade qualification (or equivalent technical diploma/degree) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Hydraulics Systems.

  • Formal training or instructional qualifications are considered a strong advantage.

Experience & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ hands-on experience maintaining Sandvik underground drilling equipment.

  • Deep working knowledge of underground mining machines, operating principles, and Sandvik’s underground equipment portfolio.

  • Proven track record in second-line technical support, fault diagnosis, and customer relationship management.
