Position Summary

The Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a qualified Research Officer to take the role of a Software Documentation, Test, Installation, and Training Specialist. He/she will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful implementation and adoption of software solutions within the VMAN Project (Development of a Standard Verbal Autopsy Manager Tool to improve Death and Cause of Death Data Quality, Data Use and Data Linkages).

Duties and Responsibilities

His/her responsibilities will include documentation, quality assurance, installation procedures, and user training. The main tasks will be:

Software Documentation:

Develop and maintain comprehensive procedural documents, manuals, and technical guides.
Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, and user manuals.
Ensure consistency in style, tone, and language across all documentation.

Software Testing:

Collaborate with development teams to identify defects and bugs, working closely to resolve them.
Create test cases and test scripts based on user stories and requirements.
Perform regression testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for products.

Installation Procedures:

Develop clear installation guides for end-users and system administrators.
Ensure smooth installation and configuration of software on various platforms.
Provide step-by-step instructions for installation, setup, and initial configuration.

User Training:

Conduct on-site and remote training sessions for end-users.
Teach users how to effectively use newly implemented software.
Address common user queries and troubleshoot issues during training.

Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Skills and Competencies

Strong writing and organizational skills.
Familiarity with testing methodologies and tools.
Basic understanding of web technologies.
Ability to communicate complex concepts in an understandable manner.
