German Sparkassenstiftung is a Germany-based NGO headquartered in Bonn. DSIK aims to reduce poverty through sustainable financial inclusion by partnering with local institutions to implement impactful projects. These initiatives focus on strengthening the financial sector through capacity development, digitalization, financial literacy, and institutional support for inclusive financial service providers.
In preparation for upcoming advisory assignments across the African continent, DSIK is seeking to build a pool of experienced banking and financial sector consultants who are nationals of African countries or have long-standing professional experience on the continent.
The aim of this call is to establish a pool of qualified advisors who may be considered for upcoming assignments with DSIK and its partner institutions.
Potential Areas of Engagement
DSIK and its partners operate in collaboration with a wide range of Financial Institutions (FIs), including but not limited to:
- Commercial banks, national and regional development banks (public and private)
- Central banks and supervisory authorities
- Inclusive financial service providers (e.g. MFIs, SACCOs, credit unions)
- Apex institutions, fintechs, leasing and factoring companies
- Non-bank financial intermediaries (e.g. VC/PE funds, trade platforms, housing finance companies)
Depending on the assignment, experts may contribute their expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Financial Sector Development: Strengthening institutional capacities, improving governance, and supporting regulatory frameworks within financial systems, and target group-oriented product development of financial products
- MSME Development and Entrepreneurship: Supporting the growth and resilience of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, fostering entrepreneurship, and facilitating access to finance and markets
- Sustainable Finance: Promoting green lending, enhancing climate risk management, and supporting environmentally sustainable business models and agricultural value chains
- Inclusive Finance: Expanding access to financial services for women, youth, rural populations, and other underserved or vulnerable groups
- Digitalization: Leveraging digital solutions to enhance both the supply and demand sides of financial services, including but not limited to core banking systems (CBS) and other digital financial innovations
Profile:
We are looking for professionals who meet the following criteria:
- University degree (minimum Bachelor) in banking, finance, economics, business administration or a related field
- Experience in Africa-based financial institutions or related advisory roles in Africa
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to work independently and solution oriented
- Excellent interpersonal, intercultural, and communication skills
