Role Summary
The Project Officer – Birth Registration & Legal Identity oversees the field execution of birth registration and legal identity initiatives across target districts in Tanga. Reporting within the Project Management team, this role coordinates district activities, trains community stakeholders, promotes digital birth registration (e-RITA), drives Social & Behaviour Change (SBC) campaigns, and ensures full alignment with UNICEF and World Vision standards.
Key Responsibilities

Project Implementation & Field Coordination (35%): Execute district work plans on time and within budget; oversee daily community activities and supervise volunteers.

Technical Support & Capacity Building (20%): Facilitate Social & Behaviour Change (SBC) initiatives; train Community Health Workers, teachers, and Child Protection Committees on digital registration platforms (e-RITA).

Government & Stakeholder Engagement (15%): Partner with District Councils, RITA, NIDA, local health facilities, and faith leaders to strengthen local ownership.

Monitoring, Learning & Reporting (15%): Collect, verify, and document field data; compile monthly and quarterly donor progress reports.

Financial Management & Safeguarding (15%): Manage activity budgets and forecasts; ensure compliance with financial policies, Child Safeguarding, PSEA, and accountability standards.
Key Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.

Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in donor-funded project management, Social & Behaviour Change (SBC), Child Protection, CRVS, or community development.

Technical Skills: Familiarity with Local Government Authority (LGA) structures, Civil Registration & Vital Statistics (CRVS) / e-RITA platforms, and digital data collection tools.

Languages: Full professional fluency in spoken and written Swahili and English.

Flexibility: Willingness to travel extensively across remote project districts in Tanga.
