Project Coordinator at Lay Volunteers International Association
Country: Tanzania
Area of intervention: Based in Pemba South Island, where LVIA will open an office with its Partners PIRO (Popular Inspiring and Relief Organization) and WW-We World. Missions are foreseen in Dar es Salam, Dodoma and Unguja (Zanzibar)
Donors: European Union
Sectors: Urban development, access to basic services (water, sanitation, waste management), resilience, community participatory processes, gender equality promotion, participatory development and good governance
Role: Project Coordinator, representing LVIA in Zanzibar archipelago, activities planning and reporting, networking with Stakeholders and Local Authorities, supervision of administrative/financial issues (procurements, tender preparation, monthly accountancy, financial reporting), human resources responsible
Refers to: Country Representative in Dodoma, Desk Officer in Italy
Duration: 12 months (renewable)
Expected availability: End of September/beginning of October 2023
Salary: In line with LVIA salary policy
Requirements
Qualification:
Degree in international cooperation, engineering, economics, political science, social science or similar.
Previous experience:
- At least 5 years of experience managing NGOs activities at a Country level (headquarters and/or local offices) and/or implementation of international cooperation projects on urban development, access to basic services, community participation to development, technical assistance to Municipalities/Local Actors.
- Experience of conducting multi-actor projects particularly with the participation of institutional actors.
- Knowledge and implementation of social innovation and/or human rights-based projects.
Knowledge:
- Excellent knowledge of administrative and accounting management, as well as EU procedures.
- Mastery of IT tools (Office package, internet, e-mail, accounting software, etc.).
Languages:
- Excellent knowledge of English and Italian. Knowledge of swahili language is an advantage.
Skills:
- Ability to implement complex projects
- Management and coordination of the local staff
- Procurement and administration skills
- Ability of vision and synthesis
- Communication and mediation skills with local partners and institutions
Preferred
- Previous experiences in Africa, preferably in Tanzania Mainland or Islands.
- Previous experiences working in the NGO sector.
- Previous work experience in urban development, technical assistance to Local Authorities, community development, gender equality, WASH, participatory development and good governance sectors.
- Insights of rural/semi-rural development (masters, specialization courses, etc.).
- Previous experience in projects promoting institutional building and working closely with Local Authorities.
- Social Innovation and Human Centered Design projects ideation and implementation experience.
- Previous collaborations with L.V.I.A.
