Raising The Village (RTV) is an international development organization dedicated to ending ultra-poverty across Sub-Saharan Africa. Operating in Uganda, Rwanda, DRC, and Tanzania, RTV partners with remote rural communities through data-driven, sustainable poverty graduation programs. RTV launched its Tanzania operations in 2026 to scale its comprehensive poverty graduation model with a strong focus on market systems, local commercialization, and government partnerships.

Position Overview

The Program Coordinator – Applied Learning acts as the bridge between data, field implementation, research, and technical knowledge. Working with multi-region teams across East Africa and North America, this position translates complex program designs, pilot insights, and research findings into learner-friendly guides, training manuals, and digital learning tools. The role focuses heavily on local language translation (English to Kiswahili), qualitative research, knowledge documentation, and capacity building for frontline field staff.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Translation & Content Localization: Oversee quality control of machine-translated technical guides, training manuals, and WASH/agriculture resources from English to Kiswahili; manage external translation consultants and ToRs.

• Knowledge Documentation & Management: Capture methodology adaptations, lessons learned, and field best practices into standardized handbooks; ensure version control and maintain quality standards across organizational knowledge bases.

• Iterative Learning & Program Adaptation: Document program design adaptations; co-facilitate periodic program review workshops; analyze field feedback to refine RTV methodologies.

• Staff Capacity Building: Identify field staff learning gaps; design standardized training programs and local-language micro-learning content for digital devices; evaluate learning effectiveness.

• Qualitative Research & Field Insights: Design qualitative tools (FGDs, KIIs); conduct qualitative field evaluations in Kiswahili and local dialects; synthesize research insights to inform program design and policy adjustments.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Education & Experience: University degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Project Management, Education, or a related field. Requires 3–4 years of experience in instructional design, qualitative research, or program learning in international development.

• Language Proficiency: Excellent written and spoken Kiswahili and English (translation competency will be tested during screening). Knowledge of Kagera region local dialects (Kinyambo or Kihaya) is a strong advantage.

• Qualitative Research & Facilitation: Proven skill in designing focus group protocols, managing qualitative data, leading cross-departmental workshops, and managing external contractors.

• Digital & Technical Skills: High proficiency in MS Office / Microsoft 365. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), ed-tech tools, or digital data collection platforms is preferred.

• Field Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 60% to remote field locations; ability to ride a motorbike in rough terrain is an added asset.
