POSITION SUMMARY:

Accountable for the supervision and operating results of the production shift to include manpower scheduling, efficiency, quality, safety, housekeeping, health and environmental requirements.

JOB PURPOSE:

To achieve efficient manufacturing of paint products that meet customer expectations in quality and quantity.

OTHER NECESSARY INFORMATION:

Reports directly to: General Manager

Direct reports: Production Supervisor (Dar, Arusha), Maintenance In-charge & SHE Coordinator

Key Internal Relationship/Key External Relationships:

  • Warehouse and Distribution/Sales/HR and Administration/Raw Materials
  • Store/Suppliers/Customers/Statutory bodies dealing in product standards & environment

Key Responsibilities of the job:

  • Plan and coordinate achievement of daily/monthly/annual production mix targets.
  • Monitor and review production processes in order to control and improve turnaround, housekeeping and compliance to product quality specifications for customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare realistic manufacturing budgets and maintain low costs for operational sustainability and competitive product pricing.
  • Ensure that the utilities supply matches demand of operations for uninterrupted paint production.
  • Review manufacturing for best practice and inculcate work methods and processes (KAIZEN) that enhance productivity and business competitiveness.
  • Analyze performance reports of machines to minimize machine downtime and ensure consistency in work flow of product line.
  • Translate sales projections into material requirements and requisition the supply chain to ensure continuous production.
  • Compile production and other vital statistics including product costing for sharing with other heads of departments to foster team work, continual improvements and decision making.
  • Liaise with Maintenance department for the audit of the plant and operations to ascertain production reliability and performance so as to put in place necessary corrective and improvement actions.
  • Liaise with SHEQ Section to promote and enhance safety and health management in the plant and prevent accidents.
  • Attend cross-functional and paint technology meetings.
  • Formulate/set performance objectives and targets for staff (using the HK system) based on business goals.
  • Profile staff skills/competency needs and develop annual training and capacity building programmes based on priority needs including career growth/succession plans.
  • Participate in Senior Management meetings as necessary.
  • Prepare and present monthly/periodic reports to Management.
  • Perform any other assignments as directed by Management.

Academic and/or Professional Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemical, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering
  • Knowledge of Paint Technology is essential
  • Previous relevant work experience required
  • Minimum of 10 years
