Role Overview & Key Responsibilities

The Marketing Officer is responsible for expanding market presence, driving distributor networks, and acquiring new retail and wholesale accounts across Tanzania. The position involves continuous field research, competitor monitoring, and working closely with production teams to tailor product development to market demands.

• Market Development & Account Acquisition: Identify and establish new distribution channels, wholesalers, and retail accounts in major towns and regional centers; follow up on leads to convert prospects into active accounts.

• Market Research & Competitor Intelligence: Conduct field surveys to track consumer buying patterns, monitor competitor pricing and branding strategies, and report emerging market trends to management.

• Product & Brand Strategy Support: Provide direct market feedback on product formulations, fragrances, packaging, and pricing; assist in executing promotional campaigns and regional product launches.

• Reporting & Field Insights: Prepare structured reports on customer visits, newly acquired accounts, regional growth opportunities, pricing benchmarks, and sales projections.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in FMCG sales or marketing.

  • Specific background in cosmetics, personal care, toiletries, or related consumer goods is strongly preferred.

• Network & Mobility: Proven network of existing contacts across Tanzanian wholesale, distribution, and retail sectors; full willingness and capability to travel extensively throughout urban and up-country regions.

• Core Competencies: Strong negotiation, market research, and communication skills, with an ability to work independently in field environments.
