The Barrick North Mara Team is seeking to recruit Light Vehicle Fitter to join and grow our team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and
  • Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • To Carry out daily tyre inspections and pressures monitoring on the vehicles
  • Perform daily tyre shop activities such changing tyres on vehicles.
  • Stripping and assembling of LV’s tyres Surface and UG
  • Operating of tyre handler and tyre service truck as a tool for tyre change activities.
  • Keeping tyre shop neat and tidy.
  • Prepare and ensure spare matching tyres are available at the workshop ready to be used once breakdown happen etc.
  • Performing PM inspection according to the maintenance requirements
  • Work order, job specification and resources identification and inspection compliance
  • Provide accurate and timely feedback to Maintenance First Line Leader on conditions that may affect functionality of equipment.
  • Actively participate in training activities to gain new skills, develop full potential and assume increasing accountability.
  • Checking and adjusting wheel balance, alignment, and rotation
    Inflating vehicle tyres
  • Helping customers to choose products that meet their requirements.

Qualification requirements

  • Mechanics VETA Trade Test Grade 1 & 2
  • Must hold a Valid Tanzania Driving License
  • Sound knowledge of Mining Safety Regulations and best practice.
  • Experience and Competencies needed.
  • 2-3 years in a Maintenance role responsible for tyres.
  • Experience in open cast and underground mining essential
  • Must have sufficient knowledge and skills in the principles, practices, Gensets, Light plants, Water pumps etc.
  • Sound knowledge in troubleshooting and repair of mobile components.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Must be able to read and interpret Light vehicle Diagrams.
  • Must be a valid Tanzania driver’s license.
  • Ability to use improvement tools and processes.
  • Possession of good vision and be able to identify different color and symbols.
