Job Purpose
The IMS Associate is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving JTI’s Integrated Management System (IMS). The role ensures organizational compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, legal/regulatory standards, internal quality benchmarks, and EHS protocols across manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

IMS Development & Process Control:
-
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive IMS documentation, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Manage document control, record-keeping architectures, and compliance tracking systems.

Monitor performance indicators (KPIs) and report on the overall health of the IMS.

Audit Management & Compliance:
-
Plan, coordinate, and execute internal/external audits for ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.

Serve as primary liaison for third-party certification bodies during external audits.

Ensure full alignment with local Tanzanian regulatory frameworks and international safety standards.

Risk Management & Continuous Improvement:

Lead operational risk assessments and implement effective hazard control/mitigation measures.

Drive organization-wide continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) tracking.

Training & Stakeholder Engagement:

Conduct training sessions and safety awareness programs across different factory departments.

Foster a strong culture of health, safety, quality, and environmental stewardship across manufacturing teams.

Qualifications, Skills & Requirements
Education & Certifications:
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
-
Certifications: Professional certification as an ISO Lead Auditor (ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001) is strongly preferred.
Experience:
-
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience managing Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and ISO frameworks within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Demonstrated experience leading internal audits, external audit prep, risk evaluations, and regulatory compliance programs.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies:

Deep technical understanding of ISO standards (Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety).

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities.
-
Bilingual proficiency in English and Swahili (verbal and written).
-
Proficient in MS Office Suite and EHS data reporting platforms.
-
Strong leadership, training presentation, and multi-stakeholder management skills.
