Position: Plumber

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Plumber to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align with the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the Engineering department are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies, and Procedures.

Reporting to: Engineering Services Supervisor

Duration: Permanent

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and
  meetings;
• Wear the appropriate PPE for the task at hand;
• Assist and conduct incident/accident investigations;
• Comply with Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other
  policies, procedures and guidelines;
• Inspect plumbing systems to identify issues and initiate repairs
• Measure, cut, thread, and assemble pipes to required angles using
  measurement tools
• Ensure compliance with building codes and set safety standards
• Ensure total adherence to all safety, health and environmental procedures
  and guidelines as well as all other company policies and procedures.
• Immerse pipes in chemical solutions such as bleach and dispersants to
  remove oil, dirt, and scale
• Dig trenches/install pipes and piping fixtures for water or sewage systems
• Utilize hand tools in fitting of valves, couplings and components for tanks,
  pumps or other plumbing system
• Install underground sanitary, drainage, and water supply piping systems.
• Assist pipefitters in the layout, assembly, and installation of pipe fixtures for
  water and air systems
• Implementation and execution of all tasks and instructions as instructed by
  superiors.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Ordinary level certificate – Form IV
• Plumbing qualified certificate

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• 5 Years’ experience on plumbing industrial
• Mining industrial experience will add advantage.
