Job Purpose
The Graduate Mining Engineer assists the Senior Mining Engineer and Site Management with underground technical engineering issues, physical production analysis, reticulation mapping, and cost tracking. This role works closely with the client’s technical services team, monitoring daily production goals while completing AUMSGT’s comprehensive 2-year underground operational graduate development program.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Technical Engineering & Production Tracking:
-
Track and update underground reticulation systems, development progress, and operational delay metrics on-site.

Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly physical mining targets to ensure compliance with contract schedules.

Assist in preparing monthly reconciliations and present accurate actual physical mining reports to the client.

Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) programs to uphold operational precision and safety compliance.

Client Liaison & Cost Optimization:

Develop a detailed understanding of the site contract, scope variations, and site management plans to ensure full compliance.

Collaborate effectively with the client’s technical services team to maintain productive ongoing client relations.

Analyze mining physicals and cost metrics to implement continuous cost-reduction initiatives.

Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Compliance:
-
Adhere strictly to all HS&E policies, site safety instructions, and the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations.

Perform mandatory pre-start checks, utilize required PPE, and immediately report or remediate site hazards.

Reporting & Mentorship:
-
Utilize mining software (Deswick, Vulcan, Datamine, Minrep) to build reporting templates and operational logs.

Support the training and supervision of vocational engineers and mine control reporting systems.

Candidate Qualifications & Competencies
Essential Requirements:
-
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized university.
-
Safety Culture: Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and a proactive attitude toward zero-harm practices.

Technical Aptitude: Understanding of underground equipment capabilities, human resource productivities, and engineering standards.
Desirable & Highly Desirable Qualifications:

Professional Registration: Graduate membership with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) of Tanzania.

Certifications: Valid Tanzanian Driver’s Licence and Tanzanian Blasting Certificate.

Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and specialized mining software (Deswick, Vulcan, Datamine, Minrep).

Experience: Exposure to high-productivity underground contracting environments (e.g., 250m/month per jumbo, 50,000 ore tonnes/month).

Program Commitment: Willingness to complete AUMSGT’s minimum 2-year underground operational graduate program.
