ABOUT GEITA GOLD MINING LTD
Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its head office in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and also a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. POSITION: Graduate Mine Surveyor
DEPARTMENT: Technical Services
LOCATION: Geita Gold Mine Tanzania
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Permanent
OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
To equip a Graduate Mine Surveyor with the fundamental open pit mine surveying techniques, methods, equipment and working environment to attain required skills, competence and experience and take part in the critical aspects of technical services provided by the survey section
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Deliver accurate survey control and set-out services to support safe and efficient mining operations.
- Conduct pit, stockpile, and mining limit surveys to ensure excavation aligns with approved designs.
- Set out drill and blast patterns, grade control holes, exploration holes, and other key survey requirements.
- Prepare survey files from mine designs and complete pre-blast verification surveys.
- Use and maintain surveying equipment to a high operational standard.
- Apply laser scanning technology to capture data in inaccessible or complex mining areas.
- Collaborate with technical and operational teams to ensure effective daily survey support.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Bachelor of Science in Geomatics or Land Surveying or Mine Surveying from the recognized institution
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- At least one (1) year working experience in mining or construction industry
- Use of GPS and total stations
- Computer literate, especially MS offices and CAD software.
- Knowledge of total use stations, data recorders and any modern survey equipment.
- Custodian of all surfaces spatial data.
- Communication skills in English and Swahili language
