About the location
The position is based deep in the heart of one of the world’s most celebrated wildlife reserves, where the Big Five — lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhinoceros — roam freely across the endless and untamed landscape.
The Four Seasons Lodge is perched on a series of elevated platforms and walkways next to an animal watering hole, where guests can watch wildlife, including families of elephants, stop for a morning drink.
Located in the heart of Central Serengeti amid wide-open plains, the lodge is approximately a 45-minute drive from Seronera Airstrip, which is accessible by connecting flights from three main airports within Tanzania.
The lodge opened under the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts family in December 2012 and features:
- 77 rooms, including 12 suites and 5 villas
- 3 Food and Beverage venues
- A unique Discovery Centre offering interactive experiences about the wildlife, history, and people of the Serengeti

- Basic purpose of the role
- The Security Officer is a key individual in achieving the goals and quality standards of the Security Department.
The Security Officer is expected to follow and perform all duties and standards required by the department. The mission of the Security Department is to:
Protect the life and safety of guests and employees
Protect physical assets and property
Ensure security standards are met and maintained
Provide service to guests and employees
The Security Officer will perform day-to-day security patrols and duties while working closely with the Security Supervisor, Assistant Manager Safety & Loss Prevention, and the Director of Safety & Loss Prevention.
The role also requires the officer to be proficient in department operations, understand assigned responsibilities, support special projects when requested, and maintain working knowledge of all security policies and procedures, equipment, and databases.
Key responsibilities
Professional conduct and department standards
The Security Officer will be responsible for maintaining professional conduct and complying with company and department expectations at all times.
Key duties include:
Conducting himself or herself in a professional manner at all times
Adhering to established standards of conduct and house rules
Following fire regulations and department procedures and policies
Wearing the issued uniform and maintaining a neat, clean, and tidy appearance at all times
Reporting to work on time and remaining aware of the work schedule
Notifying the Security Supervisor or Security Director in adequate time if unable to attend work, as stated in the Employee Handbook
Working closely with and gaining a working knowledge of the department from the Security Supervisor
Working harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors
Complying with Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set out in the Employee Handbook
Patrol, access control, and property security
The Security Officer will be responsible for conducting regular patrols and ensuring the safety and security of guests, employees, buildings, and lodge surroundings.
Key duties include:
Patrolling public areas regularly
Patrolling guest corridors and back-of-house areas
Patrolling the perimeter of the hotel and grounds
Monitoring the car park and pool areas
Preventing intrusion by animals, unauthorized people, or undesirables
Routinely checking the security of storerooms and offices
Controlling the staff entrance
Conducting regular baggage checks of staff and contractors exiting the building
Monitoring and controlling the issue of all hotel master keys
Opening or repairing in-room safes when required
Guest and employee support
The Security Officer will also provide support services to guests and employees while maintaining the security standards of the lodge.
Key duties include:
Escorting guests from the lobby area to rooms and vice versa
Performing the delivery and pickup of guest baggage to and from guest rooms and the lodge entrance
Providing service to guests and employees in line with Four Seasons standards
Being available to administer emergency first aid treatment to staff and guests who are injured or taken ill
Arranging follow-up medical attention when necessary
Health, safety, and emergency response
As a key member of the hotel’s emergency response team, the Security Officer must be fully familiar with emergency procedures and health and safety standards.
Key duties include:
Ensuring, during routine patrols, that health and safety regulations are being observed
Ensuring that all fire regulations are met
Being fully familiar with response and evacuation procedures
Understanding the operation of the fire panel
Participating as a floor fire officer when required
Serving as the contact person for any emergency services responding to the hotel
Making senior management immediately aware of any incident or unusual event
Being fully familiar with the Four Seasons Health & Safety program, Lead with Care
Attending all mandatory health and safety training
Incident reporting, documentation, and investigations
The Security Officer will be responsible for documenting and reporting incidents accurately and promptly.
Key duties include:
Documenting any crime or incident that has taken place
Completing and filing theft, loss, and damage reports
Completing and maintaining electronic security logs
Documenting any reported incidents
Liaising with the Director of Safety and Security to ensure that necessary steps are taken to prevent recurrence
Accepting and securing lost property items
Attempting to restore lost property items to their rightful owners through the Lost and Found process
Deliveries, staff housing, and operational support
The Security Officer may also support additional operational needs of the lodge.
Key duties include:
Receiving deliveries of goods from outside the normal hours of the Loading Bay and Purchasing staff
Ensuring the safe arrival of goods to their intended recipient
Opening staff housing when necessary
Conducting housing checks when required in conjunction with the Human Resources department
Assisting the Crunch Team in departments throughout the hotel
Performing other duties as assigned by management
Non-essential functions
The Security Officer may also be required to support other operational needs as assigned.
These may include:

Traveling to or temporarily relocating to the Arusha logistics center to assist as needed
