Job Title: Field Maintenance Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
- Visit for Corrective and Preventive maintenance of telecom equipment
- It is expected of the Maintenance Engineer to be the one climbing the tower to physically asses, correct and resolve any issues with the assistance of an assisting person.
- First Level trouble shooting for the Access Network (BTS, Node B, E Node B, Transmission PDH / SDH and any other equipment as specified in the BOQ- in scope.
- On site reconfiguration of the network in scope. NMC / CM task performed in the NMS is not part of Contractor scope.
- Change and diagnose for faulty hardware.
- On site Hardware and Software problems/ upgrades/ downgrades with the support of Nokia NMC, SLM and Care Teams.
- Support for any expansions and integration of additional Network Element to the Network.
- Clearing of alarms on site.
- Antenna Maintenance (including tilting, weatherproofing and realignments)
- Rectification of outages due to hardware and software issues including any hardware replacement at heights. (Rigging Services)
- Antenna Tilting, Azimuth, Height, Feeder and Type Modifications. (Rigging Service)
- Checking for loose connectors and fixing them. (Rigging Service)
- Following feeders to check for swaps and correcting swaps. (Rigging Service)
- Corrective Measures to ensure the compliance to the network KPI’s
MW (SDH/PDH) links alignments as per call off. - Maintenance of the RF and IF Cables and Connectors.
- Support SLM and Care team on site for any ad-hoc operations and resolution of software / hardware problems.
- Installation and commissioning of telecom equipment whenever required.
- Reconfiguration of MW links wherever necessary.
- Configuration of any E1 / TX Lines and rerouting of channels where required.
- Implementation of additional interface cards with assistance from Suppliers where required.
- Checking and resolving VSWR, water proofing of RF connectors.
- External and system alarm testing and maintenance.
- Acceptance Testing including the inspection and documentation verification of all newly integrated network elements
- Preparing all daily/weekly/monthly site maintenance reports and outage report.
- Additional/special tasks basis reports based on Nokia’s request.
- Corrective Measures to ensure the compliance to the network KPI’s/ SLA’s.
- Decommission and dispose of old or redundant RAN Network equipment where required
Skill Requirements:
- Transmission skills – Know all Transmissions criteria’s and basics of different service routing within multivendor equipment’s such as ERICSSON, HUAWEI, AVIAT, etc.
- Enterprise Links service routing & configuration from donor sites…
- RAN Skills – Know all RAN Equipment’s commissioning and integration basics from multivendor equipment’s such as ERICSSON, HUAWEI & NOKIA.
- IPRAN & OPTICAL Skills – Have basics knowledge on Routing and termination of OPTICAL services in different architectures such as from OSN and other related OPTICAL PROCESSING NODEs.
Minimum Qualification:
- Must be a Citizen of Tanzania
- Bachelor Degree or Master’s Degree in Electronics /Telecommunications Engineering from a recognized University.
- Registered as Professional Engineer with ERBCertified & Valid Working at Height Certificate from Gravity
- Valid Driving license, Defensive and 4×4 certificates from Top Gear are an added advantage
