Job Overview

Six Rivers Africa (SRA) is seeking an experienced, disciplined, and safety-conscious Driver based in Morogoro. The Driver will be responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation for staff, visitors, and project materials across urban routes and remote field locations. Additionally, the role provides active logistical field support for community initiatives, tree planting projects, and event setups, while managing vehicle maintenance, logbooks, and fuel tracking.

Key Responsibilities

• Vehicle Operation & Safety: Transport staff, authorized visitors, and cargo safely; strictly comply with Tanzanian traffic laws and speed limits; maintain awareness of road/weather conditions; practice defensive driving while respecting wildlife and local communities in field zones.

• Vehicle Maintenance & Fleet Care: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; keep assigned vehicles clean; schedule regular servicing and repairs; immediately report faults or damages; monitor validity of insurance and permits.

• Documentation & Logbook Management: Maintain accurate daily logbook entries (mileage, destination, departure/arrival times, fuel consumption); account for cash imprest and ensure all vehicle-related expenses are backed by valid receipts.

• Field & Logistical Project Support: Assist project teams with loading, unloading, and transporting materials/equipment to remote villages; support community events and tree planting logistics; assist with event setup, equipment positioning, and beneficiary distribution activities.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Certificate of Secondary Education (Form Four / O-Level).

• Licensing & Certification:

  • Valid Tanzanian Driving License (Class C or higher).

  • Professional Driving Certificate from a recognized institution (e.g., VETA or NIT).

  • Mandatory Defensive Driving Certificate.

  • Advanced VIP Driver’s Certificate Grade II from NIT is an added advantage.

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably within an NGO, safari, or conservation organization.

• Technical & Terrain Skills: Proven track record of operating manual 4×4 vehicles across rough, off-road, and remote wilderness terrains; basic knowledge of auto mechanics.

• Geographical Knowledge: Familiarity with traffic regulations and road networks across Morogoro, Ulanga, and surrounding regions.

• Languages & Attributes: Clean driving record; fluency in Kiswahili (English fluency is an added advantage); willingness to work flexible hours and travel to remote field locations.
