Job Advert – Loan Officer

On behalf of our client, a Microfinance Company in Dar es Salaam, we are looking for an experienced Loan Officer to join their team.

The Loan Officer will be responsible for growing their client loan portfolio (salaried workers’ loans), attracting new customers while maintaining relationships with existing customers. The candidate should have a strong understanding of microfinance operations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategies to grow the loan portfolio in line with company targets.
• Achieve monthly and quarterly growth targets for customer base and loan disbursements.
• Conduct initial client assessments and pre-screening to ensure eligibility and alignment with lending criteria.
• Represent the company in product awareness sessions, to enhance visibility.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and ensure timely follow-up for loan repayments, renewals where applicable and customer feedback.
• Keep record of client details and financial transactions and conduct periodic reconciliations to facilitate the maintenance of accurate information, reporting and an effective filing system.
• Prepare accurate and timely reports including daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual.
• Build and maintain a high-quality loan portfolio with minimal default rates.

Qualifications

• Degree in Banking and Finance, Microfinance, or any other related field
• 2 – 3 years’ experience working in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of Microfinance products and processes.
• Proficiency in Microfinance software and MS Office suite, especially Excel and Word.
• Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good Command of English and Swahili.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven track record in customer acquisition, loan portfolio growth, and achieving targets.
• Familiarity with microfinance operations and credit analysis.
