Job Description
Our Client is looking for a highly entrepreneurial and execution-focused Project Manager to lead and build their Green initiative operations from the ground up. The Project Manager will act as the city lead responsible for setting up regional operations, recruiting and managing field teams, coordinating tree planting activities, managing local partnerships, and ensuring high-quality execution of Company’s telecom-commerce tree planting platform. This role combines operations, field execution, team leadership, stakeholder management, and business building. The ideal candidate should be capable of independently running city operations and scaling them efficiently.
Responsibilities
Regional Operations Leadership
- Lead all Company operations in Dodoma region
- Build and manage day-to-day regional activities
- Ensure smooth execution of tree planting and maintenance operations
- Develop operational systems and reporting structures for the region
- Act as the primary representative of Company in the region
Ground Team Setup & Management
- Recruit, onboard, and supervise field officers, planting teams, nursery staff, and regional coordinators
- Build a high-performance operational culture
- Manage attendance, productivity, and accountability of field teams
- Ensure teams are properly trained on planting standards and tracking processes
Tree Planting Program Execution
- Coordinate end-to-end tree planting activities
- Identify and secure suitable planting areas and partnerships
- Oversee planting schedules, survival monitoring, and maintenance activities
- Ensure accurate tracking and verification of planted trees
- Work closely with HQ technology and operations teams to ensure trees are properly recorded in the platform
Partnerships & Stakeholder Management
- Build relationships with local government authorities, institutions, landowners, schools, NGOs, and community leaders
- Coordinate permits, approvals, and local operational support
- Represent Company in regional meetings and stakeholder engagements
- Develop local partnerships that support scaling tree planting activities
Carbon Credit & Sustainability Operations
- Support implementation of carbon credit tracking and reporting requirements
- Ensure field data collection is accurate and verifiable
- Coordinate survival audits and verification exercises
- Maintain proper operational documentation for sustainability reporting
Commercial & Growth Support
- Identify opportunities to expand Company’s regional footprint
- Support onboarding of local enterprise or institutional partners
- Provide regional insights to HQ on operational and commercial opportunities
- Drive regional execution aligned with company growth targets
Reporting & Coordination
- Provide weekly and monthly operational updates to HQ
- Track KPIs including: ○ Trees planted ○ Tree survival rates ○ Cost per tree ○ Team productivity ○ Land utilization ○ Community engagement
- Coordinate closely with HQ teams in Dar es Salaam
Success Metrics (First 12 Months)
- Successful setup of Dodoma regional operations
- Recruitment and stabilization of field teams
- Achievement of regional tree planting targets
- High tree survival and tracking accuracy
- Strong local partnerships established
- Efficient operational systems implemented
- Positive regional unit economics and scalability readiness
Requirements
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Forestry, Operations Management, or related field
- 5+ years experience in operations, field management, logistics, regional business management, or project execution
- Experience managing field teams or distributed operations
- Strong leadership and execution capabilities
- Comfortable operating in both office and field environments
- Experience in agriculture, forestry, sustainability, climate-tech, logistics, telecom, NGO operations, or community-based projects
- Experience setting up regional or branch operations from scratch
- Experience working with local government and community stakeholders
- Familiarity with carbon credit, sustainability, or environmental projects is an added advantage
