About the role:
We are looking for a Business Development and Partnerships Associate to help expand our market presence. This role suits a sales professional who builds strong relationships, identifies opportunities, and grows revenue across both existing accounts and new retail channels. You will manage key accounts, drive the route-to-market approach, and ensure our products reach a wide consumer base through our partners.
What you would be expected to do:
Account Management & Growth
- Build and manage relationships with existing partners. Act as the main point of contact, ensure strong client satisfaction, and identify opportunities to expand each account.
Retail Channel Expansion
- Use your retail experience to establish and onboard new retail outlets, distributors, and partners.
- Create and implement plans that increase product visibility and availability on the ground.
Route-to-Market Strategy
- Design and execute route-to-market (RTM) approaches that strengthen distribution, improve supply chain efficiency, and increase market reach for Sun King’s solar product portfolio.
Sales Execution & Target Achievement
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to negotiation and closing. Consistently meet and exceed clear sales targets and KPIs.
Market Intelligence
- Maintain close awareness of field activity.
- Track market trends, activities in the market, and customer feedback to provide insights that guide product enhancements and sales approaches.
Partnership
- Work with marketing, supply chain, technical, and other cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth customer experience and align sales efforts with company priorities.
You might be a strong candidate if you have:
- 3–5 years of experience in a fast-paced sales environment, ideally within the solar energy, consumer electronics, or FMCG sectors.
- Experience in account management, with a consistent record of expanding and maintaining key client relationships.
- Practical retail experience, including working with distributors, overseeing in-store presence, and familiarity with retail operations.
- Strong capability in developing and implementing effective route-to-market (RTM) approaches.
- Clear communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Able to work with minimal direction and contribute effectively within a team.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.

Instead of paying for expensive, polluting, and health-damaging kerosene for lighting or diesel for power, customers unlock savings through accessing solar power and after one to two years of payments, customers own their solar equipment outright.
Sun King collects payments digitally through mobile money systems and its 35,000 field agents — over 1 million payments each day. To date, Sun King has extended more than $1.4 billion in PAYG loans to customers.
Sun King began by powering homes and businesses with solar systems delivered through PAYG financing. Now, we’re using the same model to make smartphones and clean cooking equipment affordable: helping households connect to the digital economy and transition from wood-based fuels to modern, sustainable alternatives.
