Job Overview

Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) is seeking a detail-oriented and clinically knowledgeable Billing Officer to join its finance and revenue cycle team in Dar es Salaam. Reporting to the Billing, Costing & Revenue Cycle In-Charge, the successful candidate will bridge clinical documentation with financial accuracy by translating diagnoses, procedures, treatments, and consumables into precise, billable items in accordance with approved hospital tariffs and payer requirements.

• Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Clinical Billing Translation: Review clinical charts and medical records to accurately code and bill diagnoses, surgical procedures, laboratory/imaging investigations, medical treatments, and consumables.

• Revenue Integrity & Leakage Prevention: Audit patient files to identify missed charges, remove duplicate entries, correct tariff discrepancies, and eliminate revenue leakage.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner daily with Cashiers, Clinicians, Medical Records personnel, and the Insurance/Claims team to resolve documentation gaps and support claim queries.

• Documentation & Audit Support: Ensure all services provided strictly align with payer guidelines and hospital tariffs while maintaining complete data transparency, accuracy, and patient confidentiality.

Requirements & Qualifications

1. Education & Professional Licensing

• Qualification: Diploma in Clinical Medicine or an equivalent medical qualification from a recognized institution.

• Licensing: Valid professional registration and practicing licence.

2. Experience & Technical Knowledge

• Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of practical experience working in a hospital or healthcare facility setting.

• Clinical & Operational Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of hospital clinical workflows, patient care processes, medical terminology, and diagnostic/treatment documentation.

• Added Advantages: Previous exposure to clinical services, medical records, hospital billing, insurance claims processing, or electronic medical record (EMR) / hospital information systems.
