TAX CONSULTANT (1 POST)

Reports to: Senior Tax Consultant, Tax Manager, Tax Director.
Key external relationships: Clients, Government Ministries, Business Associations
Key internal relationships: TICGL Tax Team, Office Managers, Department Heads.

Location: Dar Es Salaam

Purpose:

Due to its fast growing tax practice, TICGL is now seeking tax consultant to join its team in Tanzania. We are looking for individuals with a passion for tax and a thirst for knowledge.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Prepare monthly and yearly tax returns and other tax and customs compliance documents;
B. Keep up to date with any developments relating to tax and customs laws, regulations and practice;
C. Research tax and customs related issues exclusively on behalf of the Firm and to clients of the Firm;
D. Communicate with the General Department of Taxation and Customs officials;
E. Participate in knowledge management, professional development, and Firm administrative activities as requested;
F. Other tasks not specifically listed in this document may be assigned from time to time.

Desirable:

§ Prior experience working at a professional service company is an advantage;
§ Prior experience working in a multicultural workplace is an advantage;

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required:

Essential:
§ Holds a degree in Tax & Accounting, or another degree that includes significant studies in these disciplines;
§ Has work experience in the Tax & Accounting field, or other related positions;
§ Has an excellent communication skill in spoken and written English;
§ Has an enthusiastic attitude towards building a career;
§ Demonstrates the ability to take initiative and pay close attention to detail;

DATA ANALYST (1 POST)

Reports to: TICGL Senior Economist
Location: Dar Es Salaam

Job Purpose:

Support the production and development of all business information for TICGL and TERFORUM through the collation and analysis of meaningful data to support performance measurement and evaluation. Provide support to the TICGL Economist and Project Officer in delivering system improvements and implementations.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Capture
A. Understand the organisational reporting requirements and propose configuration solutions that meet these.
B. Proactively work with Operational Managers and Senior Management team to ensure that information provision is tailored to their priorities and supports their decision making requirements.
C. Support service development and income generation by ensuring data capture and flows are built into service specifications to enable effective analysis and reporting of activity.

Data Quality

A. Comply with all information governance requirements, including the General Data Protection Regulations.
B. Act as gatekeeper for TICGL and TERFORUM data, managing data integrity and ensuring data is accurate before utilised for analysis and reporting.
C. Conduct Data Quality Audits as necessary.
D. Work with Operational Managers to develop appropriate reports and audits of system usage, and data quality.
E. Consult and work with external ICT technicians and the IT Manager in the implementation and maintenance of software, testing upgrades, version control and compatibility with associated hardware and software, for the systems.

Data Analysis

A. Extract and collate information from a variety of internal and external sources.
B. Interpret and analyse large and varied amounts of complex data to provide the accessible, meaningful and understandable information for a broad spectrum of users.
C. Research in relation to analysis of existing data or formulating proposals for system changes to better meet service needs.

Reporting

A. Support data provision for TICGL and TERFORUM, providing accurate and meaningful routine, scheduled and reports to a variety of users.
B. Provide analysis and interpretation to support evaluation of organisational activities.
C. Provide organisational data in a number of formats including dashboards, graphs, charts and reports.
D. Work with Operational Managers to understand external reporting requirements, e.g. CQC,

Organisational Development

A. Support colleagues to use information reporting tools themselves, including writing and providing training materials, and using a variety of methods to deliver training to users.
B. Keep informed of best practice and technological developments in order to recognise improvement opportunities and articulate the potential benefits these could bring to TICGL.

Special Features of the job

1. The post holder may be required to work unsocial hours subject to the requirements of the role
2. Represent TICGL at local, regional and national meetings and events as required

Skills

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor Degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Development Economics, Public health. A Post Graduate will be an added advantage. Minimum 2 years in relevant field.

BUSINESS ADVISER (1 POST)

Reporting to: Senior Business Adviser
Location: Dar Es Salaam office based with some local travel

Job Purpose:

To make a significant contribution to the development of the competitiveness and growth of Tanzania businesses through advising them on a range of business issues. TICGL is working on behalf of the TERFORUM-Non Profit Organization to deliver business support across Tanzania. It is expected that the post holder will be used to working with various stakeholders on a collaborative basis in order to maximise project outcomes and value for funders. There will be a particular emphasis on supporting independently-owned businesses serving local communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Identify and confirm eligibility of businesses that might benefit from the support being provided by the programme.
i. Respond to enquiries and proactively target Tanzania businesses in order to ensure the engagement of sufficient clients to meet individual and team targets.
ii. Actively seek enquiries from local businesses that have never accessed business support. Advisers shall work with local stakeholders to identify these businesses
iii. Making appropriate records on relevant systems, reports and documentation in order to comply with TICGL and TERFORUM standards.

2. To provide impartial business advice in order to support clients to meet their business objectives.
3. Develop local awareness of the role of the Tanzania Business.
4. Develop working relationships with stakeholders
5. To facilitate a holistic analysis of clients’ businesses to gain an in-depth understanding and insight into the current performance and potential.
6. To assist clients in prioritising issues and identifying potential courses of action.
i. To use available and/or specified diagnostic tools to develop a tailored business support plan.
ii. Able to understand and communicate the key business issues affecting the profitability and growth of an enterprise, along with the factors leading to potential success or failure.
iii. Must have sufficient knowledge of strategic choices, practical process and current issues (such as marketing and sales, accessing finance, intellectual property, internationalisation etc) to be credible with clients.

7. Provide specific business advice and where appropriate, to select business support services that meet the agreed needs of clients from the full range of private and public sector providers ensuring wherever possible that the customer may choose from a number of providers.
i. Advise businesses on the basis of the needs identified and, when appropriate, signpost to organisations better placed to provide specialist support.
ii. Maintain own knowledge of the business environment, trends and changes in legislation affecting businesses, especially SMEs.
iii. Maintain knowledge of the business support ecosystem across Tanzania and develop relationships with business support providers. To that end, attend events and other networking opportunities.
iv. Work with client companies in order to create tangible outcomes form the support provided.
v. Work as part of a wider team of advisers, sharing knowledge and clients with colleagues as appropriate in the best interests of the clients and the company.

8. To act as a credible, strategic adviser to a portfolio of businesses from small start-up SMEs to larger mid-sized businesses. To support those clients through advice, provision of information, diagnostics and brokerage, referrals and introductions to other Tanzania support organisations as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor Degree in Economics, Development Economics, Marketing, Business Administration, Finance and Accounting. A Post Graduate will be an added advantage. Minimum 3 years in relevant field.

 

PLANNING OFFICER / ECONOMIST (1 post)

Reports to: Senior Planning Advisor
Station: Dar Es Salaam

Job Purpose

Planning Officer / Economist will provide Strategic leadership in the process of Coordinating and Facilitating implementation of all activities related to TICGL overall Development strategy and Corporate Strategic plans, Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Fiscal and Monetary Affairs, Financial Sector, Investment Promotion and Private Sector Development and Research related to the implementation of TICGL programmes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Coordinate, initiate, formulate, harmonize the development and implementation of Strategies, policies and programs for Planning and Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Fiscal and Monetary Affairs, Financial Sector, Investment Promotion and Private Sector development and Macroeconomic policies (both fiscal and monetary);
B. Coordinate the development and implementation of consolidated annual work/operations plans and ensure complimentary of synergies and cooperation within the sectors under supervision;

C. Promote and coordinate joint Implementation of strategies and programs under supervision to promote teamwork, enhance optimal utilization of resources, efficiency; build synergies, internal learning and corporation; and minimize duplication of efforts between related sectors within and outside the Directorates;

D. Provide managerial support and technical advice related to the sectors to staff under the directorate’s supervision;
E. Liaise with Directorate Staff to develop specific, measurable, accurate, realistic and time bound (SMART) performance Indicators, monitor and evaluate individual Staff performance by ensuring that the TICGL performance evaluation/appraisal and feedback process is applied to all;
F. Identify policy gaps, initiate and facilitate research and studies in priority programme areas for the sectors under the directorate’s supervision;
G. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Management from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor Degree in Economics, Development Economics, Economic Policy and Planning,
Policy Analysis or a related field. A Post Graduate will be an added advantage.
Minimum 3 years in relevant field. Working experience in the coordination of projects and programs will be an added advantage.
