10 Tips for a More Productive Work Day

Do you feel like you’re constantly running behind, and never seem to get anything done? Do you spend your nights overworking or try to have a passive income on sites such as 22Bet? If so, you’re not alone. A lot of people struggle with productivity. In fact, according to a study, the average worker is only productive for 2 hours and 53 minutes out of an 8-hour workday. That’s not very productive!  Here is our list of advice that will increase your productivity.

Wake up early.

The saying goes that “the early bird gets the worm.” Well, it’s true! If you wake up earlier than everyone else, you’ll have a few hours to get things done before everyone else wakes up and starts bombarding you with requests.

Take breaks.

There’s an old saying: “If you don’t stop, you’ll crash.” Breaks are essential for productivity – especially if you’re working on a task that’s taking a long time.  If you work for hours on end without a break, your brain won’t be able to function properly. You need to take breaks in order to recharge and rest your mind. When we say take a break, that doesn’t mean you should go on Facebook. Take a quick break, walk around the office, talk to someone in another department or just simply look away from your screen at something that’s farther away for 30 seconds.

Make a list of tasks and prioritize them.

In order to stay focused, it’s very important that you make a list of tasks that must get done that day. Then, you should prioritize them based on which one is most important and needs to be completed first.  You can use the “Eisenhower Method” to prioritize tasks or one of these other methods.

Take a look at your list and start working on the top priority task first. Once you get that done, move on to the next task until everything is completed. If there are any leftovers from today, carry them over to tomorrow’s list.

Learn when to say “No.”

Don’t take on more than you can handle, or else you’ll end up getting overwhelmed and stressed out. It’s ok to say no to requests, especially if you know that you can’t complete them in a timely manner.

Set goals for the day.

In order to increase productivity, it’s important to set goals for yourself each day. This way, you’ll have something to strive for and will be able to accomplish more than if you didn’t have any goals.

Eliminate distractions.

Distractions can be a huge hindrance to productivity. If you’re trying to get work done, but keep getting interrupted, it’s going to be very difficult to focus and get anything done. If possible, try to eliminate all distractions while you’re working. This means turning off your phone, closing any unnecessary tabs and even putting on headphones so that people know not to talk to you.

Don’t multitask.

It’s a common misconception that multitasking helps you get more done, when in fact it does the opposite. When you try to do multiple things at once, your brain has to switch between tasks and can’t focus on any of them. This leads to longer completion times for each task, which makes it seem like you’re getting less done.

Take a walk.

If you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, take a quick walk around the office, go outside for some fresh air or just look away from your screen at something that’s farther away than what’s directly in front of you for 30 seconds to give your eyes time to rest.

Organize your workspace.

This doesn’t necessarily increase productivity, but it sure does make it easier to be productive. If your workspace is cluttered and disorganized, you’ll have a difficult time finding what you’re looking for when you need it and will waste valuable minutes searching through piles of papers or drawers full of files.

Delegate tasks to others.

If you’re in a position where you have the ability to delegate tasks, do it! Don’t try to handle everything yourself. It’s ok if someone else does things differently than you would – they might actually be better at it than you are! Delegating will not only free up your time, but it will also make the team more productive.

Set a time limit for tasks.

If you have a task that you know takes a few hours to complete, don’t try to do it all in one sitting. Set a timer and work on the task until the timer goes off. This way, you’ll be able to focus better and will avoid getting overwhelmed.

Take care of yourself.

This one is probably the most important – take care of yourself! Get enough sleep, eat healthy foods and exercise regularly. When you’re taking care of yourself, you’ll have more energy and be less stressed, both of which are key ingredients to a productive day.

Use your time wisely.

There are 24 hours in every day, and you can’t add any more to them. Make sure that you’re using your time wisely by not wasting it on things that aren’t important or don’t need to be done right now. Only focus on the tasks at hand, and don’t let yourself get distracted by social media, personal email or phone calls.

Plan your work volume

It’s important to plan out how much work you’re going to do each day. If you try to take on too much, you’ll quickly become overwhelmed and won’t be able to complete anything. On the other hand, if you don’t plan out your work volume, you might not get everything done that you wanted to.

These are just a few tips that can help you have a more productive workday. Try out a few of them and see which ones work best for you. And most importantly, don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it! Remember, you only have 24 hours in each day – make sure you’re using them wisely!
