Purpose of the position:
Responsible for the maintenance and servicing of Forestry Equipment
Key Result Areas and accountabilities:
Maintaining vehicle & maintenance schedules
Planning, procurement, and control of spares & equipment
Emergency maintenance of all Forestry equipment
Liaising with the team to ensure all routine and emergency maintenance and repairs are done in time to remain productive.
Conduct regular maintenance of Forestry machinery and automotive vehicles.
Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades.
Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations.
Handle the tasks of rebuilding parts such as cylinder blocks and crankshafts by using welding equipment, shapers, lathes, and drill presses.
Emergency maintenance of all Forestry equipment
Complying with relevant health, safety & environmental requirements
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies:
Qualified Mechanic with at least 5 years’ experience with heavy duty vehicles
Good report writing, communication, presentation, and research skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of diagnosing performance problems, repairing related estimates and writing work orders accurately
Skilled in working with air conditioning, cooling fuel, electrical, exhaust and steering systems.
Possess strong problem solving as well as customer service skills.
Sound knowledge of computerized diagnostic tools and equipment
Proven ability to service and maintain heavy duty machinery.
Excellent time management and planning skills
Knowledge of Health, safety & environmental provisions related to workshops.
Valid Driver’s licence
Good written and spoken command of English and Kiswahili Languages
Qualifications & Professional registration:
Essential: Relevant mechanical diploma or certificate
Years of experience required to perform this role: At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
