Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to assist in all activities within the warehouse, ensuring the accurate, timely, and safe handling of stock through receipt, put-away, picking, packing, checking, and dispatch. The Warehouse Assistant is expected to be multi-skilled and to be able to work across all warehouses in Tanzania (Mbeya, Dar es Salaam and Dodoma) as operationally required.
Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet business needs.
General Warehouse Duties
- Perform any function that may reasonably be required from time to time by the Warehouse Supervisor or the Field Support Supervisor.
- Ensure the warehouse area is kept tidy at all times.
- Alternate between the warehouses (Mbeya, Dar es Salaam and Dodoma) as operational needs require.
- Log into the telephone system daily so that Warehouse can be reached by Field Support and by Product Supply.
- Recommend improved procedures to the Warehouse Supervisor where practical improvements are identified.
- Assist with the re-packing of goods within the warehouse — including damage-out, batch corrections, and pack-size changes.
- Take responsibility for receiving, picking, packing, checking and dispatching of goods in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Warehouse Assistant
- Ensure the correct shipping of all goods, both to Africa Distribution Centres and on export shipments.
- Re-pack pallets to meet shipment requirements (weight, dimensions and load stability).
- Off-load and load containers and trucks arriving at or departing from the warehouse.Assist in the monthly stock-take cycle counts and in any daily cycle counts, as required.
- Assist with scanning of invoices from Accepted to Pending Inventory to Shipped status, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of all invoices that enters the Warehouse environment.
- Assist with arranging and filing of invoices.

- The employee is required to have the ability to safely lift or carry up to 20 kilograms on a repeated basis in the course of a working day.
- The employee must be able to work at height (racking and picking positions up to and above 12 metres) when required, using approved equipment and safety gear.

- The noise levels in the warehouse environment are typically moderate to high; hearing protection to be worn where indicated.
Education and Experience
- Minimum Grade 12 (secondary school completion) — essential.
- Able to count accurately and to determine quantities on pallets and in cartons — essential.
- Licence for the Counterbalance Forklift, Turret (man-up) Forklift and Pallet Jack — highly desirable (training may be provided to strong candidates without existing licences, subject to Company policy).
- Able to work at heights of 12 metres and above — essential.
- Previous warehouse or distribution-centre experience — advantageous.
- Good command of English, verbal and written — essential.
- Kiswahili working knowledge — advantageous.
