Update to SASSA SRD R350 Grant Bank Account Information
The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) is administered in terms of section 32 of the Social Assistance Act, 2004 (Act No. 13 of 2004) and is implemented with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance.
The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) is meant for South African Citizens, Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Special Permit Holders who are between the ages of 18 and 60 years, who have insufficient means, who do not receive social grants on behalf of herself/ himself or who are not contributing to or eligible for UIF payment, and have no financial support from any other source.
The South African Social Security Agency continues to aid South African people through the Social Relief Distress grant, which strives to alleviate citizens’ incapacity to satisfy their fundamental necessities.
However, the agency is currently failing to ensure that every eligible applicant receives their grant payment on time due to erroneous information given.
As a result, SASSA asks all Covid-19 SRD R350 grant candidates to provide accurate banking information. This is done to avoid late payments and slow application processing.
Old candidates can also use the internet to update their financial information.
How to Change the Bank Account Information on an R350 Grant
- Bank account information may be updated on the SRD website at srd.sassa.gov.za.
- Scroll down to the section under “How to Change My Banking Details,” enter your ID number, and click submit.
- After that, you will receive an SMS on the cellphone number you provided during the application with a secure link to change your banking information. The link will be active for 30 minutes.
- Follow the instructions by clicking on the link you got through SMS.
- Please ensure that you are the owner of the bank account information you supply, since SASSA will not make payments to anybody else’s account.
- Also, if you select the money transfer option, please confirm that the phone from which you receive the SMS is registered in your name.
- Please keep in mind that payment will be paid into the new banking information following verification.
