Job Purpose
The Transport Coordinator (Transport Planning & Safety Lead) is responsible for driving safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance across inbound, outbound, and site transport operations. This role ensures strict adherence to transport safety standards, optimizes route planning, coordinates 3PL logistics, and manages journey risks to achieve operational excellence, cost efficiency, and a zero-harm working environment.
Key Responsibilities

Transport Planning & Execution: Execute inbound and outbound transport plans to meet Turnaround Times (TAT), customer service levels, and cost targets. Coordinate with Sourcing, Warehousing, Planning, and Sales teams for smooth order fulfillment.

Transporter & Fleet Optimization: Track third-party logistics (3PL) transporter performance, optimize delivery routes, and maximize fleet utilization. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) covering logistics cost, efficiency, and safety compliance.

Transport Safety & Compliance: Enforce compliance with internal controls (CARM, IAA, SFIPP) and local transportation regulations. Develop site-specific traffic management plans in partnership with Logistics and Health & Safety managers.

Driver & Journey Risk Management: Oversee Journey Planning Management (JPM), including pre-trip briefings, post-trip debriefs, and deviation tracking. Coach drivers on daily safety violations and direct corrective actions.

Inspections, Audits & Incident Investigation: Ensure vehicle and forklift inspection checklists are completed and gaps remediated. Conduct transport safety audits, lead incident investigations, and implement preventive action plans.

Operational Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in site transport logistics to reduce operational costs, streamline traffic flow, and improve service delivery.
Candidate Qualifications & Competencies

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, or a related field.

Professional Certifications (Preferred): Professional certifications in Transport Safety or Logistics (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, CILT).

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in transport operations, route planning, or transport safety—preferably within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or 3PL sector.

Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of transport safety standards, journey risk management, incident root-cause analysis, and proficiency with Transport Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and MS Office.

Core Skills: Strong leadership, analytical problem-solving, stakeholder management, and high attention to safety compliance under pressure.
