Summary of Responsibilities
The Trade Finance Manager is responsible for driving, structuring, and managing the Bank’s trade finance portfolio, with a special focus on off-balance sheet (OBS) contingent liabilities across approved sectors. The role focuses on generating Non-Funded Income (NFI), supporting front-line business teams, ensuring operational compliance, and optimizing turnaround times to maximize client wallet share and revenue.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Management & Revenue Generation

Drive, structure, and expand the Bank’s trade finance portfolio, focusing on off-balance sheet contingent liabilities.

Target and generate Non-Funded Income (NFI) across all OBS products and trade finance offerings.

Identify and negotiate business development opportunities with clients to increase the Bank’s overall wallet share.
2. Transaction Processing & Product Structuring

Review and process trade finance instruments, including Import/Export Letters of Credit (LCs), Documentary Collections, Bills Avalisation, Guarantees, Standby LCs, and Trade Loans.

Design suitable structures, processes, and end-to-end workflows for trade finance products linking front-office and back-office functions.

Prepare and analyze comprehensive credit applications for presentation to the Credit Department.
3. Business Support & Network Execution

Partner with Branch Managers (BM), Relationship Managers (RM), and Relationship Officers (RO) to plan and execute sales strategies for new and repeat business.

Manage and monitor team workflow across the branch network to ensure alignment with corporate targets.

Organize branch trade finance activities, including staff training, activation workshops, and branch visits.

Manage regional trade finance activities, including Group syndication files and cross-border transactions.
4. Operational Risk, SLAs, & Governance

Manage operational risk within the department to prevent financial or reputational losses while maintaining full compliance with BOA policies and procedures.

Develop and implement Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments to improve transaction Turnaround Time (TAT).

Collaborate with the Deputy Managing Director / Head of Enterprise Unit to analyze quantitative and qualitative branch achievements and advise on trade unit roadmaps.
5. Leadership & Capability Building

Manage the performance of subordinate staff, designing training and development plans aligned with business goals.

Actively promote BOA’s trade finance capabilities through formal presentations and business interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Competencies
Education & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Finance, Marketing, Commerce, or Banking. A Master’s Degree or specialized trade finance training is an added advantage.

Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in banking and trade finance operations.
Technical Know-How

Deep understanding of foreign and international trade operations, techniques, procedures, and products.

Advanced credit analysis and technical structuring skills for trade finance solutions.

Strong knowledge of general banking operations and sales techniques.
