The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is a semi-autonomous agency in the Ministry of Works, established on 1st July, 2000. It is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Tanzania mainland’s trunk and regional roads network, as well as the construction of airports. Topographic Surveyor Vacancy at TANROADS

TANROADS, on behalf of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, has entered into a contract for the construction of Simiyu Bridge (150M) and its approach road (3KM) to bitumen standard. The Regional Manager’s Office, TANROADS Mwanza, on behalf of the Chief Executive, intends to recruit qualified and competent staff to fill vacant posts on specified contracts for the aforementioned project in the following fields:

Topographic Surveyor – 1 Post

A: Entry Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution. Must be registered by NCPS as a professional Land Surveyor.
• Postgraduate qualifications in surveying are an added advantage.
• At least 5 years of cumulative working experience in surveying for the design and/or construction of roads and bridges.
• Fluency in written and spoken Swahili and English is mandatory.

B: Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, and reports of works performed.
• Review survey data for accuracy, including measurements and calculations.
• Identify and locate all beacons and benchmarks for the contractor to set out and construct the works.
• Direct or conduct surveys to establish legal property boundaries.
• Record the results of surveys, including location, shape, contour, and dimensions.
• Coordinate findings with engineers, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Adjust surveying instruments for accuracy and develop criteria for survey methods and procedures.

NB: Contract duration is Eight (8) months.
