Job Summary

Tabono Consult Limited is hiring a capable, autonomous, and rigorous Assistant Accountant in Mwanza, Tanzania.

This role requires a high level of independence to manage daily financial, accounting, and administrative operations without day-to-day supervision. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary liaison with government regulatory bodies like the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) and the Labour Office while providing guidance to junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Compliance

• Maintain accurate daily financial accounts, general ledgers, and transaction records.

• Prepare, verify, and reconcile invoices, expense reports, and financial documents.

• Ensure all accounting processes comply with local accounting standards and Tanzanian statutory frameworks (TRA, NSSF).

Government Liaison & Audit Representation

• Act as the frontline representative during official, unannounced, or scheduled audits by regulatory authorities.

• Respond professionally to inquiries from the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Labour Office, and other government entities.

• Organize and maintain all statutory files, tax documents, and employment compliance records for inspection.

Office Administration & Team Guidance

• Oversee daily administrative workflows for smooth facility operations.

• Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and operational guidance to junior staff.

• Interpret and enforce internal company policies and regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Experience: 4 to 5 years of dedicated accounting experience in the pharmaceutical industry (Mandatory).

• Autonomy: Proven track record of working independently without direct supervisory oversight.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Practical knowledge of TRA tax processes, Tanzanian labour laws, and statutory compliance frameworks.

• Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding verbal communication skills with the confidence to handle government officials and inspectors.
