Specific knowledge
10 years of experience in a Supply Chain Management environment, giving exposure to and responsibility in different functions related to transport, logistics, planning and warehousing.

Main duties
- Overall responsible for managing the logistics function by developing and reviewing an effective distribution model which is aligned to Tanga Cement’s overall business strategy.
- Design and formulate distribution strategies supported by a distribution model which addresses and meets the demands of a dynamic and changing business environment.
- Manage relationships with rail and road transporters and other strategic partners to achieve the required business outcomes.
- Ensure Weighbridge operation is smooth and operates in compliance with government guidelines.
- Manage entire inflow and outflow of trucks at Parking yards and weighbridges.
- Develop and implement backhauling strategies for both inbound and outbound logistics.
- Drive digitalization initiatives across logistics operations.
- Oversee the overall management of depots across the country.
- Manage cost structure and operating costs of the logistics function and compliance with admin processes.
- Lead and manage people to achieve performance objectives.
- Enforce regular trucks inspections, tracking visibility, validity of licenses, insurances and maximum allowable payload.
- Ensure OSHA compliance as per company and statutory requirements.
- Observe relevant environmental policies, procedures and regulations.
- Compliance to Heidelberg Materials Group Code of Business Conduct, Compliance Polices and Guidelines.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum requirements and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics/Supply Chain/Operations Management or a related field.
- Postgraduate in Sales & Marketing/MBA and Certification in CSCP/SCOR-P/CSCMP/CPL will be an added advantage.
- 10 years of experience in a Supply Chain Management environment giving exposure to and responsibility in different functions related to transport, logistics, planning and warehousing.
- Experienced with sales function.
- Good knowledge of supply chain management.
- Good understanding of cement business.
- Good understanding of macro-economic factors and relevant government legislation.
- Proficient in Ms360 Suite and other relevant software.
- Able to provide direction and leadership to the department.
- Able to facilitate synergy and cooperation in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Passion for customer service.
