Purpose of the Role
As part of the Service Team, the Service Technician – Crushing Solutions provides hands-on technical support, aftermarket maintenance, and quality service for Sandvik Rock Processing equipment and components—both at Sandvik facilities and across customer mining sites in Zambia. This role is instrumental in optimizing equipment performance, ensuring operational safety, and promoting aftermarket solutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Service & On-Site Maintenance:

Perform hands-on mechanical, hydraulic, and process maintenance and repairs on Sandvik crushing and screening assets at customer mine sites.

Identify, report, and resolve technical issues safely and efficiently, participating in after-hours callouts as required.

Perform detailed fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving using a direct hands-on approach.

Installation, Commissioning & Auditing:

Carry out the installation and commissioning of new Sandvik equipment in close collaboration with customers’ installation and erection teams.

Conduct regular equipment condition, performance, and process audits to help customers improve maintenance planning efficiency and equipment integrity.

Customer Guidance & Capacity Building:

Deliver technical training and ongoing operational support to customer maintenance teams regarding all Sandvik crushers supplied within Zambia.

Build strong rapport with customer personnel to understand emerging service needs and provide technical and engineering guidance.

Guide and assist customer teams with complex diagnostic and repair work on Sandvik crushers.

Sales & Aftermarket Collaboration:

Work closely with the Sandvik sales team—or directly with clients—to promote Crushing Solutions equipment and aftermarket parts sales.

Assist customers with parts lists, inventory planning, and spare parts management.

Safety, Governance & Compliance:
-
Ensure strict adherence to all Sandvik health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, as well as customer site safety protocols.

Achieve established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for both Sandvik and its clients.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements
-
Education & Trade Certifications:
-
Qualified Mechanical Technician, Fitter, Boilermaker, or Diesel Mechanic.

Work Experience & Expertise:
-
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the mining industry.

Asset Exposure: Demonstrated background servicing mineral processing and fixed plant equipment (fixed plant crushing and screening experience in both surface and underground operations is highly regarded).

Technical Competencies: Strong skills in crushing and screening preventative maintenance, hydraulic repair, automation setup/troubleshooting, and system fault finding.

Licensing & Travel Requirements:

Must possess a valid driver’s license recognized in Zambia.
-
Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel without restrictions within the Central African Territory on short notice.
