About the organization

Ushirika wa Wakulima Wazabibu na Masoko Mpunguzi (UWAZAMAM) is Agriculture and Marketing Cooperative Society (AMCOS) registered in 2010 under the cooperative Act to produce Grapes, buy and process bulk wine and juice and sell to different markets. UWAZAMAM is located in Mpunguzi Ward, Dodoma Municipal, Tanzania.

Job purpose

The Project Officer (PO) primary responsibility is to ensure field project activities are implemented according to plans. Planned activities may involve, but are not limited to data collection, monitoring, market linkages, information sharing and coordination with partners.

Duties and responsibilities

• Work effectively with the Project Manager and other teams to ensure project activities are implemented according to donor requirement (in terms of budget, activities, and time frame)
• Form farmer groups and train them on the best agronomic practices, post-harvest management and value additional through demonstration plots
• Support the formation of youth led initiatives and ensure timely, quality design and delivery of activities.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly report as per donor requirement.
• Support the identification and analysis of trends, threats, and risks in the area of farmers and livelihoods, building this into research and learning from the project.
• Conduct quarterly project reflections to review performance of the project activities.
• Introduce and implement payment based in quality to increase productivity to smallholder farmers.
• Tracking harvesting amounts and reports Project Manager on weekly basis
  Being responsible for extension activities, conducting the related training, and following -up coaching activities.
• Ensure proper filing and archiving of all project documents.
• Attend project meetings and participate actively.
• Collect success stories from the field and ensure project visibility.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agronomy, Economics, or related field
• Experience working with Farmer Organization, Groups, SMEs, Government, Private Sector Companies, International and Local NGOs.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience with a thorough understanding of all areas of project management cycles
• Demonstrated experience in working independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate ability to interact and work with farmers.
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven experience in facilitation skills in conducting meetings, training, workshops, and conferences.
• Willingness to work over 80% of the time in the field.
• Proficiency in using Word, Excel, e-mail, and web browser.
• Must be willing to drive motorbike and possess a valid driving license.
