Job Overview
BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania, a leading non-governmental development organization, is seeking a motivated and community-minded Programme Officer Intern to support the implementation of the Accelerating Impact and Livelihoods for Young Women (AIM) Programme in Kyela, Mbeya. Supported by the MasterCard Foundation, the AIM Programme focuses on empowering adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) through financial inclusion, economic asset transfers, education monitoring, and community advocacy.

Key Responsibilities
-
VSLA & Financial Inclusion: Form and monitor Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) to foster a savings culture, manage asset cost recovery, and support at least 80% of livelihood participants in transitioning to formal microfinance institutions.

Participant Home Visits & Livelihood Monitoring: Execute structured monthly work plans conducting home and group visits to monitor asset growth, verify household income improvements, and build confidence among AGYW participants.

Education Intervention Support: Conduct quarterly attendance verifications at designated schools, facilitate monthly peer-mentor study circles (PLC), and carry out annual home visits for education participants.

Operational Planning & Execution: Achieve at least 90% completion of due home/group visits each month, manage participant portfolios efficiently (up to 210 participants), and participate in weekly branch review meetings.

Safeguarding & Community Protection: Promote BRAC’s safeguarding policies, ensure a safe working and learning environment free from harm, abuse, or exploitation, and follow prompt reporting procedures for any incidents.
Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies, Community Development, Gender and Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in international development, community facilitation, microfinance, agricultural/livelihood support, or women/youth empowerment programs.

Preferred Experience: Prior experience as an AIM club mentor, group facilitator, or in managing savings groups (VSLAs), asset/cash transfers, and installment collections is an added advantage.

Skills & Attributes: Strong community engagement and group mobilization skills, efficient time-management, commitment to safeguarding standards, and willingness to conduct field visits in local catchment areas.
