Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Cashier will handle daily point-of-sale transactions, issue sales receipts, and reconcile cash registers to deliver an efficient billing experience for customers and patients.

• Payment Processing: Process cash, credit/debit card, and mobile money transactions (M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money) for prescription and over-the-counter sales.

• Billing & Invoicing: Generate accurate receipts and invoices, issue correct change, and process sales through the Point of Sale (POS) system.

• Daily Reconciliation: Conduct shift opening and closing cash counts, reconcile daily sales logs, and manage cash deposits securely.

• Customer Service: Greet incoming clients, answer pricing questions, and route technical medication inquiries to pharmacy staff.

• Record Keeping: Maintain organized physical and digital records of daily sales for auditing and financial reporting.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Certificate or Diploma in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, Record Management, or a related field.

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience as a cashier or billing clerk.

  • Prior experience in a retail pharmacy or store setting is an added advantage.

• Technical Skills: Computer literacy, proficiency with POS software, and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

• Core Competencies: Strong numerical accuracy, high ethical standards, precision, and courteous communication skills.
