About the Role

NMB Bank Plc is seeking two (2) experienced and dynamic Legal Counsels to join its Legal Directorate at the Head Office in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing expert legal support, drafting and perfecting security documentation, delivering sound legal opinions on credit transactions, and safeguarding the bank’s interests while facilitating business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Credit & Security Documentation: Draft, review, and monitor the registration and perfection of security documents and corporate lending contracts in line with regulatory standards.

• Legal Advisory & Risk Management: Deliver commercially sound legal opinions to credit committees and business units, identifying credit risks and recommending proactive mitigants.

• Custody & Perfection Management: Oversee the safe custody, retrieval, tracking, and discharge of security documents upon loan settlement.

• Litigation & Representation: Prepare court pleadings and represent the bank in courts of law and specialized tribunals.

• Audit & Compliance Support: Ensure alignment with evolving regulatory frameworks and provide required documentation for internal/external audits.

Candidate Requirements:

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized institution.

• Must be duly enrolled as an Advocate.

• Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in corporate, banking, or commercial law practice.

• Deep understanding of banking operations, security creation, and lending regulatory requirements.

• Master’s degree in Law or Business Studies is an added advantage.
